And Atelier Playa Mujeres is one that I find myself recommending again and again for couples who want their honeymoon to feel luxurious, romantic, and a little extra special.

Located in Playa Mujeres, just north of Cancun, Atelier is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort that manages to strike that sweet spot between sophisticated and fun. You can spend the morning lounging by the pool, have a leisurely lunch, enjoy wine and charcuterie in the evening, and then dress up for dinner and cocktails—all without ever needing to leave the resort. And honestly? That’s exactly what I want for a honeymoon.

So let me tell you why I think Atelier Playa Mujeres deserves a spot on your honeymoon shortlist.

The Luxury Starts the Moment You Arrive

One of my favorite things about Atelier is that the honeymoon feeling starts before you even get to your room. As soon as you walk through the doors, you’re greeted by the resort’s signature scent and a glass of champagne. And yes, I’m a sucker for a champagne welcome. It immediately sets the tone for the entire stay.

Atelier has a very polished, modern feel without feeling stuffy or overly formal. Everything feels intentional, from the architecture and artwork to the little details throughout the resort. It gives you that instant feeling of, “Yep, we picked the right place.” And after all the planning that goes into a wedding, I think that feeling is pretty important.

The Rooms Feel Made for Honeymooners

If your idea of a honeymoon includes a gorgeous room that makes you want to stay in bed a little longer, or maybe never leave your room at all, Atelier delivers. The rooms are modern, spacious, and incredibly romantic, with beautiful design details and the kind of luxurious bathroom that makes getting ready for dinner feel like part of the experience. And then there’s the sunken soaking tub. Because if you’re going to have a honeymoon, you might as well have a gorgeous tub, right?

There are also several suite categories that are worth considering depending on what you’re looking for. One of my favorites is the Ocean View Swim-Out Suite. These suites are located on higher floors, so you get those incredible ocean views while still having your own swim-out access. It’s a really special combination and one I would absolutely consider for a honeymoon. And if you really want to splurge, the Oceanfront Master Suites are stunning. Waking up with that view every morning would be a pretty amazing way to start married life.

This is one of those resorts where I think your room category can make a big difference, which is exactly why I don’t recommend choosing a room based solely on the lowest price.

A Little Wine, A Little Cheese & A Lot of Romance

One of the little touches I love at Atelier is Piccolo, their wine and cheese experience. On most evenings, they set up a beautiful wine and cheese station outside on the patio where you can enjoy a selection of wines paired with a delicious charcuterie board.

It’s not necessarily a huge production—and that’s part of why I like it. Picture yourselves grabbing a glass of wine, sharing some cheese and charcuterie, and sitting outside together after a day in the sun. Those are the moments I think make a honeymoon feel like a honeymoon. You don’t always need an elaborate excursion or a big romantic setup. Sometimes it’s just sitting next to your new husband or wife, enjoying a glass of wine and realizing, “We’re actually married!”

The Service Is One of the Things That Stands Out

Beautiful resorts are easy to find. Great service is harder to find. And this is one of the areas where I think Atelier really shines. The hospitality throughout the resort is fantastic. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely seem to care about creating a great experience for you.

What I especially love is how personal the service can feel. They get to know you. They remember what you like. They remember what you drink. You might order a cocktail one day and find that the bartender remembers your favorite drink the next time you stop by. Those little moments may sound small, but they’re the things that make you feel taken care of—and on a honeymoon, that matters.

If You Love Cocktails, You’re Going to Love Atelier

Okay, cocktail lovers…this one is for you. Atelier takes its cocktails seriously, with professional mixologists creating drinks at the resort’s different bars. And I am always happy to see a resort put some thought into its cocktail program because, let’s be honest, a mediocre vacation cocktail is a missed opportunity.

One of the spots I always recommend checking out is Bar de la Calle. And if you like dessert cocktails, order the Crème Brûlée Martini. Trust me on this one. The Lobby Bar is another great place to grab a drink, especially before dinner, while the rooftop bar at night has a completely different feel. Grab a cocktail, take in the views, and enjoy that warm Caribbean evening air. It’s the kind of place where you can easily tell yourselves, “Just one drink,” and suddenly it’s an hour later. Not that I would know anything about that, lol!

Make Time for the NUUP Spa

After planning a wedding, I think you’ve earned a spa day. The NUUP Spa at Atelier is beautiful, intimate, and has received numerous awards and accolades. But what I especially love for honeymooners is the opportunity to enjoy a couples massage together. The spa has beautiful treatment rooms designed for couples, making it easy to turn your spa visit into a romantic experience you can enjoy together. And this is one of those things I recommend actually putting on your honeymoon schedule. It can be tempting to arrive at an all-inclusive resort and think, “We’ll just decide what we want to do when we get there.” But if there’s something you know you want—like a couples massage—let’s get it planned ahead of time. You’ll thank me later.

And Then There’s the Food…

Let’s talk about one of the most important parts of an all-inclusive vacation: the food. Atelier has an impressive variety of restaurants, so you have plenty of options throughout your stay. You can enjoy everything from Mexican cuisine and seafood to international favorites and more elevated dining experiences.

And because it’s an all-inclusive resort, you can try different restaurants without worrying about adding up a dinner bill every night. That’s one of the things I love about a luxury all-inclusive honeymoon. Your meals, drinks, snacks, and so many of the experiences are already taken care of. You get to focus on enjoying the moment instead of constantly reaching for your wallet.

The Beach Is Beautiful

If you’re dreaming about long walks on the beach, turquoise water, and plenty of room to spread out, Atelier has a gorgeous, wide stretch of beach. There’s something about walking along the beach with your new spouse that just feels right on a honeymoon. Grab a coffee and take a morning walk. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the water. Watch the sunset together. Or do absolutely nothing. That last one is also a very good honeymoon activity.

What About Nightlife?

Just because you’re staying at a romantic, adults-only resort doesn’t mean you have to be in bed by 9:00 every night. Although, if you want to be, I fully support that too.

Atelier offers evening entertainment and shows, along with live music and other activities throughout the resort. There’s enough happening after dark to give you options without making the resort feel like a giant party scene. You can dress up for dinner, grab a cocktail, catch a show, listen to live music, or head up to the rooftop for a drink. The overall atmosphere feels sophisticated and fun rather than wild—and for many honeymooners, I think that balance is exactly right.

So, Is Atelier Playa Mujeres a Good Honeymoon Resort?

In my opinion, absolutely.

But here’s the thing: I don’t think every resort is right for every couple. If you’re looking for a honeymoon that combines luxury, romance, incredible food and cocktails, beautiful accommodations, attentive service, a gorgeous beach, and plenty to do without feeling overwhelmed, Atelier Playa Mujeres is a resort I would absolutely have on your list.

It’s especially great for couples who appreciate modern design, elevated dining, a sophisticated adults-only atmosphere, and those little details that make a vacation feel special. And I think that’s what makes Atelier stand out to me. It doesn’t feel like you’re simply checking into a nice all-inclusive resort for a week. It feels like you’re celebrating something.
